Walk Of Hope 2011

Once again a BIG THANKS to everyone who joined us for the Walk of Hope 2011, despite the constant rain you all still came and made the day a great success.

Well over 200 people attended the event clad in waterproofs and you all helped to raise £1400 with sales and personal donations on the day, which is even more than last year!

Sponsorship to date totals over £700 so once again we should be on target for a substantial amount raised - thank you very very much

Barry Williamson from Skelmersdale, once again took the 25 mile first place but all the results and fantastic achievements can be viewed here.

Over 160 people & numerous dogs joined us on the Family Walk. The children were once again taking part in nature hunts and forest activities. Unfortunately because of the rain the Bouncy Castle and Slide didn’t make it but despite this the kids still had a great time. Everyone taking part really enjoyed the day and the children who completed the walk were rewarded with a voucher for the stalls at the finish. Thanks to Avril for your impeccable organisation and sacking me from the registration tent!

The rain was pretty relentless but people stayed for coffee and the kids had a great time in our craft tent with Emma & Jessica which was a popular addition to the event. The big winner on the day was the cake stall. Thanks to Lou, Silvia & everyone who made the gorgeous cakes that raised nearly £400!

Thanks to the ever-smiling girls from Forest School, Kirsty & Jen, who entertained the kids with marshmallows around the fire, all day in the woods.

Thanks too, go to H.Greaves the butchers for the substantial discount on their sausages and burgers which also went down a storm. Service with a smile was provided by Maria & Angela and the excellent waitress service was provided by Chloe Taylor!

Thanks to Jane & Becky for their hard work in the tuck shop, Ana & Lisa on the ice creams (lets hope for sun next year!!), Allana & Sam on the T-shirts & Hoodies and Dan & Ben from the Rangers Service. You’re all priceless.

A special mention goes to Mark, Uncle Al & Andrew, who tirelessly worked from 6:30am till finish filling/emptying trailers and cars, building gazebos and generally made sure things worked and didn’t blow down in the wind! Also, thanks to John for being our resident pro photographer and keeping pace with the kids on the Beacon.

Thank you all for coming and supporting our beautiful Maisy’s fight we really do appreciate everything you do.
